This Is YOUR Guide By: Hue Mann
I will be your guide, Hue. I am here for whatever you need, or don't need. I'm here to give you too much information, but at the same time, not enough information that is needed within my field. That grassy, muddy, overgrown, dry-in-some-spots, filled with creatures and critters, field of education. Yes, the overworked, underpaid, thankless field where the minds and souls of tomorrow are left in the hands of those who care way too much with never enough time or money. Don't fret, though! I am here to help you navigate those uncharted waters of school districts and classrooms, and I promise to do my best in sharing my honest, unadulterated experiences, so that some insight can be provided throughout your journey.

A wise man once said some b.s. along the lines of, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants''. Actually, that is the quote, it is not b.s., and the “wise man” was Isaac Newton. Go me for stating my source! **pats self on back** Obviously a cliché' is not the best way to begin a blog(though it has been done throughout thousands of other works), but I want to make the purpose of this blog as genuine and as clear as I can make it. The only reason I am where I am today, and where I will be long after this blog is gone and forgotten, is from the shared experiences, lack of experiences, knowledge, clumsiness, wisdom, and path of all those I have had the pleasure of interacting with. All of the aforementioned lessons have gotten me to this point; right here, right now, for a purpose that I am not sure as to why, but some sort of writing and reflection was needed to come from this. This blog is meant to tell my path and experiences, but more importantly my view of my field of education, so that I can help clarify a time or allow someone to overcome some type of adversity through how I have seen and been introduced to my world and career.
You see, an educator is a fascinating creature. We train and obsess over what it will be like to one day teach the future citizens of our world. We have stars in our eyes and books in our hearts. We know we can make a difference, and we know that we will do whatever it takes to be a small part in changing at least one life...and that's exactly what we do. We do EVERYTHING we can, from spending our own money to sacrificing time that could be spent with our own families, to make even the littlest bit of difference. Why? Because that is what we've always told ourselves we would do. Do we complain? You damn right we do. But do we continue to make a difference by doing whatever it takes? You're damn right. Some days, we're more psychologist than teachers. Some days, we're more healthcare workers than teachers. And, some day, we're more robots than humans; all with one thing in common: we'll be whatever we need to be to change one life.
This "guide" is to put the human element back into any educator's life. As we progress as educators, we forget that we are only human. We cannot do it all, we can forgive ourselves when we should, and dammit, we deserve to be viewed as the most important profession that has ever existed.

I only ask one thing in return; if at any point I do not seem genuine or overly politically correct, please feel free to continue to scroll as one does past my page, never to be seen again. I may not always have your answer, but I will always give you my honesty. My blogs are meant to hurt; they are meant to make you angry, sad, happy, confused, and curious. Education is messy. Teaching students in today's society is messy. I want to invoke emotion, thoughtfulness, and comradery from you, because ALL educators feel this on a daily basis. You should too. It is up to us to recognize our common occurrences, find solutions throughout this mess, and more forward for the betterment of our students, but more importantly, for the betterment of ourselves as educators and human beings. With my final disclaimer being declared, let’s do this!
